SAAB 900 Conv. Taillight Project

It took a long time until some company finally decided to produce aftermarket clear front side repeaters for classic saab 900's. I've always liked the crisp and modern look of such clear lenses on other car brands. So, when elkparts finally offered them, i ordered a pair immediately.

After i've put them on my 900 convertible, i thought they looked great but, i suddenly felt disturbed by the orange lenses of the rear light units. As there are no aftermarket parts with clear lenses available, i decided to manufacture these myself on a looooong weekend.

Of course it would have been too risky to experiment with the original taillights, so i bought a pair of second hand ones from a junkyard. As i thought this might be of interest to other saab drivers, i took some pics of the whole procedure.

Please note that replacing these lenses is rather difficult and requires quite some manual skills. This site is just a short report and by no means a step by step instruction. I take no responsability for possible damage. ;-)
